What Is Privacy Law?

Privacy Law is sometimes known as data protection.  It involves issues of security, collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.  Privacy law helps with dealing with access to personal information, privacy breaches, privacy impact of new technology, and privacy policies.

One Of New Zealand's Leading Privacy Law Barristers

I am considered internationally as one of New Zealand's leading privacy specialists, having practiced in Privacy Law since the Privacy Act was enacted in 1993. My privacy law clients include individuals, state sector agencies, local government, and business: both nationally and internationally.

I regularly engage in presenting seminars and papers at conferences on privacy, and published 'The Privacy Act For Schools' through the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and authored the Information and Privacy Chapter in 'Health Care and the Law'.

The media frequently come to me for advice and comments on Privacy issues, (and I welcome all approaches by the media).

I am also authorised to certify attendance at privacy training by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, and can provide advice and representation across the full spectrum of privacy and information issues.
